The Line: New York Giants +7.5 -- Over/Under: 55.5
The New York Giants and the New England Patriots face off on Sunday at MetLife Stadium in a NFL week 10 matchup.
The New York Giants are 5-4 this season and that is good enough for first place in the NFC East. The Giants offense is averaging 27.4 points and 349.7 yards per game and they have a plus 12 turnover ratio. Giants QB Eli Manning has completed 65.9 percent of his passes with 19 touchdowns and six interceptions. Rashad Jennings leads the Giants rushing attack with 364 yards and Odell Beckham leads in receptions with 59 including seven touchdowns. The Giants defense is allowing 25.1 points and 422.8 yards per game with 13 interceptions, nine sacks, and 12 fumble recoveries. Landon Collins is New York’s leading tackler with 56, Uani’ Unga has 47 tackles, and Brandon Merriweather has 44 tackles. THe Giants have taken advantage of their opportunities but eventually they will need to get heat on the passer if they hope to keep winning.
The New England Patriots are 8-0 and they are standing alone in the AFC East. The Patriots offense is averaging 34.5 points and 420.2 yards per game and they have a plus seven turnover ratio. Pats QB Tom Brady has completed 68.6 percent of his passes with 22 touchdowns and two interceptions. LeGarrette Blount leads the New England rushing attack with 447 yards and five touchdowns and Julian Edelman has 57 tackles and seven touchdowns and Rob Gronkowski has 44 catches and seven touchdowns. The Patriots defense is allowing 17.9 points and 334 yards per game with nine interceptions, 27 sacks, and eight fumble recoveries. Jamie Collins leads the Patriots with 51 tackles and Malcolm Butler and Devin McCourty have 41 tackles each. The Patriots have lost to the Giants twice in Super Bowls and it has to be in the back of some of the veteran players minds.
New York is 2-7 against the spread against a team with a winning record and 4-1 against the spread after scoring more than 30 points in their previous game. New England is 5-1-1 against the spread in their last seven games, 4-1 against the spread following a game that they covered the point spread, and 3-1-1 against the spread against a team with a winning record. The underdog has covered the point spread in the last four meetings of these two teams.
I am expecting plenty of scoring in a wide-open game and this one should soar over the total that is set at 55.5.
