The Line: New York Jets -3.5 -- Over/Under: 43.5
The New York Jets and the Miami Dolphins face off on Sunday at MetLife Stadium in a AFC East rivalry NFL match up.
The New York Jets are 5-5 this season and have lost their last two games. The Jets offense is averaging 23.4 points and 351.2 yards per game and they have a plus two turnover ratio. Jets QB Ryan Fitzpatrick has completed 58.4 percent of his passes Chris Ivory leads the New York rushing game with 679 yards and six touchdowns and Brandon Marshall has 62 receptions and seven touchdowns. The Jets defense is allowing 20.8 points and 323 yards per game with 10 interceptions, 22 sacks, and 11 fumble recoveries. David Harris leads New York with 71 tackles, Muhammad Wilkerson has 7.0 sacks, and Marcus Williams has four interceptions. The Jets have struggled of late but still are in contention for a playoff spot.
The Miami Dolphins are 4-6 this season and they are in a disappointing last place in the AFC East. The Dolphins offense is averaging 20.5 points and 336.2 yards per game and they have a minus two turnover ratio. Miami QB Ryan Tannehill has completed 62.8 percent of his passes with 17 touchdowns and 10 interceptions and he has been sacked 30 times. Lamar Miller is the Dolphins leading rusher with 565 yards and five touchdowns and Jarvis Landry has 63 catches and three touchdowns. The Dolphins defense is allowing 24.9 points and 389.8 yards per game with nine interceptions, 22 sacks, and seven fumble recoveries. Reshad Jones leads Miami wit 91 tackles and three interceptions, Kelvin Sheppard has 61 tackles, and Ndamukong Suh has 4.0 sacks. Miami has been disappointing losing some winnable games and that will cost them in the end.
New York is 4-1-1 against the spread against the AFC East, 0-4-1 against the spread in their last five games, and 1-4 against the spread in their last five home games against a team with a losing road record. Miami is 2-9 against the spread against the AFC, 0-7 against the spread against the AFC East, and 4-11 against the spread in their last 15 games. The road team has covered the point spread in six of the last seven meetings of these two.
This game figures to be closer than the first meeting as the Dolphins are playing better and the Jets playing worse so getting more than a field goal looks good enough so I will take the points with Miami.
