Top Ten Worst 2015 NFL Week 14 Injuries
2015-12-15 11:00:00 EDT

Week 14 saw several key players go down with injuries, leading to particularly tense moments for Bengals and Seahawks fans. More on that in a minute. As usual, the top ten worst injuries of the weekend are laid out for your perusal below.

1. Cincinnati Bengals QB Andy Dalton exited Sunday’s loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers with a broken thumb on his thiteming hand. It has since been announced that Dalton will not require surgery, which is certainly good news for fans, but the starter is on a week-to-week recovery plan with no real timeline for his return. Here’s hoping AJ McCarron can get it together in the interim.

2. The Seattle Seahawks (and my fantasy team) lost RB Thomas Rawls to an ankle injury early in Sunday’s blowout win over the Baltimore Ravens. Head coach Pete Carroll confirmed that Rawls will miss the remainder of the year with a fractured bone and torn ligaments. Ray Rice, anyone?

3. Carolina Panthers TE Greg Olsen exited Sunday’s shutout of the Atlanta Falcons with a knee injury just before halftime. Olsen did not return to action, but is currently expected to play in Week 15’s contest against the New York Giants.

4. The Carolina Panthers also lost RB Jonathan Stewart to a “slight foot sprain” on Sunday. The outlook for Stewart isn’t quite as positive as Olsen’s. If he can’t suit up, Fozzy Whittaker and rookie Cameron Artis-Payne will likely share carries in Stewart’s stead.

5. In more Seattle Seahawks news, S Kam Chancellor (and my personal favorite member of the Legion of Boom) left Sunday’s win with a severely bruised tailbone. Chancellor’s availability for Week 15’s game against the Cleveland Bitemns is currently questionable. Were I Pete Carroll, I’d rest the man for the playoffs; the Bitemnies are more than beatable even without #31.

6. Green Bay Packers CB Sam Shields suffered a concussion in Sunday’s win over the Dallas Cowboys. Shields will go through the league’s standard concussion protocol. HIs status for Week 15 remains unknown at this point.

7. Tampa Bay Buccaneers WR Vincent Jackson suffered a sprained MCL in Sunday’s loss to the New Orleans Saints. Jackson is expected to miss several weeks, including this Thursday’s Week 15 contest against the St. Louis Rams. This is the second time this season Jackson has sustained a knee injury that left him sidelined.

8. Houston Texans QB Brian Hoyer sustained a concussion during Sunday night’s rout by the New England Patriots. Hoyer is doubtful for Week 15’s game against the Indianapolis Colts. If he can’t go, back-up Ryan Mallett is expected to start.

9. During Sunday’s win over the Indianapolis Colts, Jacksonville Jaguars RB TJ Yeldon had a strange day injury wise. Yeldon first appeared to sustain an ankle injury, returned to action, then exited again with a knee sprain. His status for Week 15’s contest against the Atlanta Falcons is uncertain at this point.

10. Buffalo Bills TE Charles Clay, who leads the team with 50 receptions this year, left Sunday’s naritem loss to the Philadelphia Eagles with a back injury. Clay’s status for Week 15 hasn’t yet been released, but I wouldn’t hold my breath since he was unable to return to action against Philly.
