NFL Updates: News From Around the League, Week 15 Schedule and More
December 17, 2015
The NFL will be getting going on Week 15 this evening when the Bucs and Rams face off in St. Louis. In the meantime, let’s check out today’s headlines and see who’s in the news.
The Patriots’ Julian Edelman was back at practice yesterday. It’s his second day back since breaking his foot in Week 10.
So far, so good for Edelman. He reportedly looked great running routes yesterday and could conceivably be back in the lineup this weekend.

Now let’s move elsewhere in the AFC East and check out a few Dolphins items. WR Rishard Matthews was able to return to practice yesterday, albeit on a limited basis due to his rib injury. He’s been out the past two games.
Fellow WR Jarvis Landry was also limited yesterday due to his knee issue. He should be fine for Sunday against the Chargers, however.
As for Lamar Miller, he was limited due to an ankle injury, which could help explain why he didn’t get a whole lot of work late in the Dolphins’ Week 14 loss.
Andre Ellington of the Cardinals didn’t practice yesterday, which puts a damper on a potential return. He was initially expected to get back on the field this week but may not be over his turf toe issue.
Andrew Luck has already been ruled out already for a very important divisional matchup against the Texans, but the team is hoping to have him back for Week 16.
That Week 16 game is against the Dolphins, but if Indianapolis doesn’t pull out a victory against Houston there might not be much left to play for.
Vincent Jackson will be out of action tonight against the Rams.
This didn’t come as much of a surprise; Jackson is likely done for the season with that knee injury.
It’ll be interesting to see how the Panthers handle their backfield this weekend against the Giants. Fozzy Whittaker is slated to start, with Mike Tolbert adding in the later-down and goal-line work.
Even with fellow RB Cameron Artis-Payne counted in, the three other Panthers running backs have just 456 yards and 98 touches compared to Jonathan Stewart’s 258 touches and 1,088 yards. Things will certainly be different this wekend.
