NFL Updates: News From Around the League, Week 17 Schedule and More
December 30, 2015
Week 16 is all finished up in the NFL, and it’s officially time to start looking ahead to the final week of the regular season. In the meantime, let’s check out some of the notable players and situations out there right now.
Now that Chip Kelly has been fired by the Eagles, where might he land next? Some early potential destinations being thrown out there include Cleveland, Tennessee and Miami.
The Browns really wanted Kelly before he went to the Eagles, so we’ll call them the early frontrunners. He likely won’t even want to control personnel at his next coaching gig, which should make it easier for him to get hired.

Charles Clay has officially been placed on injured reserve due to his back. His season is now over.
Clay inked a five-year deal worth a whopping $38 million early this year, so his 51 catches and three touchdowns are certainly a disappointment. If the Bills want to get their money’s worth, they’ll have to get him more involved next year.
Who’s going to start for the Colts this week against the Titans? That seems to be anyone’s guess. Indy signed Josh Freeman and Ryan Lindley yesterday, both of whom join Stephen Morris as potential starters in Week 17.
It doesn’t seem like either Matt Hasselbeck or Andrew Luck will be ready for Sunday, so we’ll probably see a journeyman guy trotted out there. It’s not looking good these days for the Colts.
Speaking of quarterback situations, we’ve still got one going on in Denver, though nothing seems to have changed much.
Brock Osweiler is still slated to start this weekend, though Peyton Manning could return to practice today. Once the playoffs get here, that will be another matter entirely.
Speaking of the Broncos, ILB Brandon Marshall will be undergoing an MRI on his injured right ankle today.
Marshall was hurt late in Monday’s game, and we’ll find out his potential status moving forward when the test results are announced.
