NFL Updates: News From Around the League, Off-Season Schedule and More
March 21, 2016
The NFL’s annual league meetings are in full swing, and that means we’ll be seeing plenty of interesting tidbits coming around the clock over the next couple of days. That said, let’s check out some of the notable players and situations out there in the news.
The Steelers may be relying a little more heavily on WR Sammie Coates this upcoming season. He’ll have to step up now that the team will be without Martavis Bryant (suspension).
Coates was a rookie last year, and didn’t make much of an impact in the regular season. He did have a couple of big catches in the playoffs, however, and may see more of that in 2016.

According to sources close to the team, the Browns are showing some real interest in free agent QB Robert Griffin III.
The Browns have been making some calls to talk about Griffin’s character, and we’d imagine they’re hearing mostly positive things about him. They also had a meeting with him recently, which reportedly went very well.
Cleveland will be a team to watch for the rest of this off-season. They’ve been linked to San Francisco QB Colin Kaepernick, and have the No. 2 pick in the draft.
Speaking of Kaepernick, however, the team’s sources say there’s nothing close with any kind of potential deal there.
It seems the Niners and Browns have hit an impasse in their trade talks for Kaepernick. They’re reportedly offering a third-round draft pick, but want the QB to trim his salary. That money becomes fully guaranteed ($11.9 million) on the first of April. He’s probably not leaving San Francisco.
Arian Foster doesn’t have a new team just yet, but apparently his rehab from his torn Achilles is going well.
Foster has been jogging since January and has been working out twice a day recently. We won’t know where he’s going in 2016 for at least a little while, though.
