The BC Lions and Saskatchewan Roughriders square off Saturday night at Mosaic Stadium.
The BC Lions look for another victory after a strong 2-1 start to the season. Jonathon Jennings is completing 58.6 percent of his passes for 608 yards, one touchdown and one interception. Jennings has three passing touchdowns in his last four games. Shawn Gore and Emmanuel Arceneaux have combined for 386 receiving yards and one touchdown while Bryan Burnham has nine receptions. The BC Lions ground game is averaging 109.3 yards per contest, and Jeremiah Johnson leads the way with 120 yards on 21 carries. Defensively, BC is allowing 15.3 points and 323.7 yards per game. Adam Bighill leads the Lions with 21 tackles, Alex Bazzie has three sacks and Loucheiz Purifoy has one interception.
The Saskatchewan Roughriders are still looking for their first victory after a tough 0-2 start to the season. Darian Durant is completing 67.4 percent of his passes for 627 yards, five touchdowns and zero interceptions. Durant is coming off a four-touchdown performance last week. Ricky Collins and Naaman Roosevelt have combined for more than 330 receiving yards and one touchdown while Curtis Steele has seven receptions. The Saskatchewan Roughriders ground game is averaging 76.5 yards per contest, and Steele leads the way with 108 yards on 18 carries. Defensively, Saskatchewan is allowing 34.5 points and 372 yards per game. Greg Jones leads the Roughriders with 11 tackles, A.C. Leonard has two sacks and Justin Cox has an interception.
The Lions are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games following a straight up loss and 4-1 ATS in their last 5 road games. The Roughriders are 4-12 ATS in their last 16 home games and 0-5 ATS in their last 5 Saturday games. The Lions are 3-1-1 ATS in their last 5 meetings in Saskatchewan and 3-1-2 ATS in their last 6 meetings overall.
The home team has won three of the last five meetings between these two teams, and the Saskatchewan Roughriders are coming off a solid performance offensively despite a losing effort against Edmonton. So, in a toss-up matchup, I'm going to side with the home team and the low line.
