The Green Bay Packers look to grab another preseason victory as they head to the Pacific cast to take on the San Francisco 49ers.
The Packers have as high of expectations as anybody this season as they look to get back to the NFC playoffs and perhaps into the Super Bowl as one of the top end teams in the entirety of the NFL. Green Bay is led of course by Aaron Rodgers who continues to be one of the best players in the league and now with a somewhat healthy Jordy Nelson back in the fold and Randall Cobb slipping back into the secondary receiving role this offense could be historic this season as there are so many talented pieces in play. The Packers defense is also a force to be reckoned with and they should have a bit of an edge over the Minnesota Vikings in the race for the NFC North title but tonight they set their sights on the Niners who are in for a very rough season.
San Francisco is undergoing some major changes as Chip Kelly takes over as the head coach but he has Blaine Gabbert and Colin Kaepernick as his two options behind center and now much in terms of offensive weapons beyond Carlos Hyde. The Niners are in a tough NFC West division that is led by the Seahawks and Cardinals and with some promise coming out of the new Los Angeles Rams as well the Niners are pegged to be basement dwellers this season despite having a pretty solid core on defense.
The Packers are 5-1 ATS in their last six road games, 5-2 ATS in their last seven overall, and 20-9-1 ATS in their last 30 games on grass while the Niners are 6-13 ATS in their last 19 on grass, played to the UNDER in four of their last five against the NFC, and UNDER in 18 of their last 23 home games. Green Bay is looking to make a statement and even though it is the preseason I don’t see much positive coming out of the Niners this year.
