The Philadelphia Eagles take their unbeaten preseason record to Lucas Oil Stadium to take on the Indianapolis Colts in week 3 preseason action.
The Philadelphia Eagles come into week 3 at 2-0 after shutting out the Pittsburgh Steelers 17-0 at Heinz Field. Sam Bradford looked like the quarterback he promised he would be, going 14-19 for 115 yards. Backup Chase Daniel also showed up, going 10-16 for 82 yards, in a way sending a message that he isn’t going away, more so Daniel is going to at least compete for the starting QB spot. Philadelphia had a decent night running the ball, putting up 91 yards on 27 attempts. 13 different receivers had a reception for the Eagles last Thursday, most notably second year wideout Nelson Agholor had 2 catches for 30 yards, while Philadelphia mainstay Brent Celek had 1 catch for 17 yards. Philadelphia has an insanely busy night on the defensive side of the football, registering 3 sacks and 4 interceptions in turn shutting down the Pittsburgh offense.
The Indianapolis Colts were in a 19-18 game for the 2nd consecutive week, however Indy ended up on the losing end this week to fall to 1-1 at the hands of the Baltimore Ravens. Andrew Luck looked phenomenal in his first preseason action this season, completing all 8 of his passes for 71 yards before turning the reins over to backup QB Scott Tolzien who had a pretty good night at the office himself, going 13-18 for 107 yards and a touchdown. It was also a busy night for the Indianapolis receiving core, as 10 different receivers had at least 2 receptions. Most notably was Donte Moncrief who had 2 receptions for 25 yards in an effort to cement his spot as one of Luck’s better options at wideout this year. The Colts didn’t have much to write home about defensively as Indy only recorded a sack and an interception of Ravens fourth-stringer Jerrod Johnson.
The over is 4-0 in Philadelphia’s last 4 games on turf, 4-0 in their last 4 road games and 6-1 in their last 7 games overall. Indianapolis is 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games on field turf and 25-10-1 ATS in their last 36 home games while the under is 7-2 in their last 9 Saturday games. The over is 4-0 in the last 4 meetings between these two.
If Andrew Luck comes out firing like he did last week, I like the rest of the Colts to keep riding the momentum for the full 60 minutes, giving the Eagles their first loss of the preseason.
Lay the points with Indianapolis.
