The Oakland Raiders look to shake off a tough loss to the Green Bay Packers last week as they host the Tennessee Titans on Saturday night.
The Titans head into Oakland for their third preseason game looking to regroup from a 26-16 loss in their last outing and with the regular season just around the corner we will likely see more action from the top end players on both sides of the ball from each team. Tennessee is coming off a tough season and while they did make some moves to improve through the draft and free agency they are still a ways away from contending in the AFC South as they are still a level behind the likes of Houston, Indy, and even the surging Jags. The Titans did draft Derrick Henry to pair up with Demarco Murray in what should be a pretty explosive ground attack and they do have one of the better tight ends in the league in Delanie Walker for Marcus Mariota to work with but on the whole the Titans are in tough this season.
The Raiders meanwhile head into the season as one of the dark horse, trendy picks as a team to watch out for in the AFC as they have assembled a very solid group that looks special in all facets of the game. They are coming off a 7-9 record and landed a hard hitting safety in Karl Joseph in the draft to go alongside an ever improving defense led by Khalil Mack, David Amerson, and the newly acquired Sean Smith and Bruce Irvin. Offensively, Derek Carr leads the group behind center and he has two very solid receiving options in Michael Crabtree and Amari Cooper and one of the best offensive lines in the game which is why this group has a ton of hype this season. Oakland didn’t look great against the Packers last week but will be out for blood here against a very underwhelming Titans side and playing at home makes things even better for them here.
The Titans are 0-4 in their last four ATS on Saturday, 0-4 ATS in their last four on the road, and 12-34-5 ATS in their last 51 against the AFC while the Raiders are 6-2 in their last eight ATS against the AFC and 0-4 ATS in their last four home games. This is Oakland’s game to lose as they are by far the better team and while it is the preseason expect Raider Nation to be out in full force here.
