The Philadelphia Eagles return home after a win on the road against the Colts as they host the New York Jets on Thursday night.
The Jets look to shake off a loss in their last outing as they prepare for their exhibition finale against the Eagles on Thursday night, and with the regular season just around the corner and Ryan Fitzpatrick having an extended offseason we should see him log some minutes in this one. The Jets will have a pretty potent offense this season with Fitz under center and with Brandon Marshall, Eric Decker, and Matt Forte at his disposal it should make things much easier to move the ball as they aim to get back into the AFC playoffs. New York also has a stout defense and to me are the biggest threat to take down the Patriots for the AFC East crown this season, though many in Buffalo and Miami might have other things to say about that.

The Eagles meanwhile are coming off a successful road trip to Indianapolis and while it won’t matter in the win-loss column until the regular season starts next week it has to feel good for them as many are doubting their ability to be competitive this season. Sam Bradford, as disgruntled as he might be, looks like a shoe in to start the season behind center and while his group of receivers isn’t great he does have the newly acquired Dorial Green-Beckham now who will be out to prove his worth after a tumultuous rookie campaign in Nashville. Philly was able to hang 33 points up on the Colts and again, while it is preseason, it is a good sign for them moving forward as they try to figure out who their playmakers are going to be this season.
New York is 4-1-1 ATS in their last six overall, 2-5-1 ATS in their last eight games in September, and 1-3-2 ATS in their last six road games while the Eagles are 1-4 ATS in their last five Thursday games, 1-4 ATS in their last five home games, and 1-4 ATS in their last five games in September. New York will look to step their game before next week’s season debut and I expect exactly that as they turn in a solid defensive effort against the home side.
