The New York Jets and Buffalo Bills square off early Thursday night at New Era Field on CBS.
The New York Jets could use a bounce back performance after losing a heartbreaker to the Cincinnati Bengals. Ryan Fitzpatrick is completing 54.3 percent of his passes for 189 yards, two touchdowns and one interception. Fitzpatrick has two or more touchdown passes in six of his last seven games. Matt Forte and Quincy Enunwa have combined for 113 receiving yards and one touchdown while Eric Decker has two receptions. The New York Jets ground game is averaging 152 yards per contest, and Forte leads the way with 96 yards on 22 carries. Defensively, New York is allowing 23 points and 381 yards per game. Darrelle Revis leads the Jets with seven tackles, Leonard Williams has 2.5 sacks and Marcus Williams has one interception. Darryl Roberts, Jordan Jenkins and Sheldon Richardson are questionable.
The Buffalo Bills are also looking for a victory after sleepwalking in their opening loss to the Baltimore Ravens. Tyrod Taylor is completing 68.2 percent of his passes for 111 yards, zero touchdowns and zero interceptions. Taylor has zero touchdown passes in his last three regular season games. Sammy Watkins and Charles Clay have combined for 83 receiving yards on nine catches while Robert Woods has four receptions. The Buffalo Bills ground game is averaging 65 yards per contest, and LeSean McCoy leads the way with 58 yards and one touchdown. Defensively, Buffalo is allowing 13 points and 308 yards per game. Zach Brown leads the Bills with eight tackles, Jerry Hughes has two sacks and Ronald Darby has two pass deflections. Watkins, Colt Anderson and Jerel Worthy are questionable.
The Jets are 3-1-1 ATS vs. a team with a losing record and 1-3-2 ATS in their last 6 road games. The Bills are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 home games and 9-4 ATS in their last 13 games following a straight up loss. The Jets are 0-4 ATS in their last 4 meetings in Buffalo.
The Jets defense looked real shaky in the opener, including Revis who was absolutely set on fire by AJ Green. Fitzpatrick also looked a tab bit rusty from missing so much preseason action and couldn't find Brandon Marshall at all. The Bills didn't play much better and haven't gotten much out of Taylor as of late. However, the Bills have beaten the Jets in five straight meetings and are always up for these games with Rex Ryan wanting to stick it to his former team. The Jets have not won a game against the Bills since September of 2013.
These Thursday games are always tough to pick with the lack of rest, but the Bills at home in a pick em has to be the slight lean. Buffalo has the defense to rattle Fitzpartick and McCoy is due for a breakout performance.
