There is no love lost between the Cincinnati Bengals and Pittsburgh Steelers who renew their rivalry for the 94th time on Sunday in week 2 NFL action.
The Cincinnati Bengals narrowly escaped the Meadowlands with a 23-22 victory over the host New York Jets last Sunday. Andy Dalton put on a show, completing 23 of his 30 pass attempts for 366 yards and a touchdown while countering that with an interception. Jeremy Hill and Gio Bernard split the workload out of the backfield, combining for 56 yards on 14 carries. The major story from the game however, was how Bengals wide receiver A.J. Green made “Revis Island” look like an all-inclusive resort, torching the Jets standout defensive back to the tune of 12 receptions for 180 yards and a touchdown. The Cincinnati defense was able to register a sack and an interception courtesy of defensive back Josh Shaw.

The Pittsburgh Steelers took it to the Washington Redskins on Monday night football in week 1, dismantling the ‘skins 38-16. Ben Roethlisberger completed 27 of his 37 attempts for an even 300 yards, 3 touchdowns and an interception. Veteran running back DeAngelo Williams made a statement on Monday, racking up 143 yards on 26 attempts while also logging 2 touchdowns of his own. Antonio Brown torched the Redskins secondary, hauling in 8 balls for 126 yards and 2 touchdowns. The Steelers also forced a fumble and pick off Redskins QB Kirk Cousins twice en route to the victory, however they did allow 384 yards of total offense, placing them in the bottom-10 in that category after week 1.
Cincinnati is 9-0 ATS in their last 9 road games and 10-3-1 ATS in their last 14 vs. the AFC while the under is 5-1 in their last 6 vs. the AFC North. Pittsburgh is 2-0-2 ATS in their last 4 games overall and 0-2-2 ATS in their last 4 games following a straight up win while the under is 20-8-1 in their last 29 vs. the AFC North.
This is going to be an awesome game between two teams that can’t stand each other. However, Pittsburgh’s defense didn’t look all that great and is still a year removed from finishing 3rd bottom in the entire league defending against the pass. That’s not good news when you’re facing a receiving core with the likes of A.J. Green in it. If Green could torch Darrelle Revis, imagine what he can do against the Steelers defense.
We may not need the points as I think Cincinnati wins this outright, but I’ll take the points with the Bengals just to be safe.
