The Washington Redskins look to shake off an ugly performance last week against the Steelers as they welcome their bitter rivals in the Dallas Cowboys to town on Sunday.
The Cowboys look to avoid falling to 0-2 on the season and winless in their division as they take on the Redskins in Washington on Sunday, and while the Cowboys had their opportunities against the Giants they know they let one slip away as they probably should have gotten the win. Dallas was dealt another tough blow when Tony Romo went down in the preseason but Dak Prescott has shown he can carry the load and while he didn’t have much to show in his NFL debut and they didn’t get Dez Bryant nearly involved enough I think there are brighter days ahead for America’s Team. Dallas will also look to get Ezekiel Elliott going who was quiet in his NFL debut as well but against a Skins team that was absolutely torched by Deangelo Williams last weekend I think Elliott is due for one of those games we anticipated seeing out of the draft and into the preseason.
The Redskins meanwhile are an absolute mess and while they are coming off a division title a season ago they looked absolutely dreadful in their season opener against a short handed Steelers side that was missing four key pieces to their offense. Washington is banking on a big season from Kirk Cousins and while he has shown he is capable of being the guy he is also franchise tagged right now and may not be playing with a ton of confidence right now and with a lackluster receiving corps outside of Jordan Reed at tight end and a run game led by the injured and uninspiring Matt Jones I think the passing attack from Cousins will take a hit this season.
Dallas is 2-5 ATS in their last seven on the road, 1-6 ATS in their last seven against the NFC, and 0-4-1 ATS in their last five games overall while the Redskins are 4-1 ATS in their last five against the NFC East, 1-4 ATS in their last five games in September, and 2-5 in their last seven ATS in week two. This should be an exciting game but I think without the bright lights of Jerry’s World burning down on the Dallas youngsters I think they will emerge with a big time effort and lead the Cowboys to not only a cover but a win outright.
