The San Francisco 49ers look to move to 2-0 and shock the NFL world as they head into Charlotte to battle the Carolina Panthers on Sunday.
The NIners pulled off a remarkable 28-0 season opening victory at home against the Los Angeles Rams and they completely dominated from start to finish and held the Rams hapless offense in check all game long. The Niners also had a pretty decent day moving the football against a respectable Rams defense as Carlos Hyde found pay dirt twice and Blaine Gabbert was surprisingly efficient and looked great on his feet as well which he will have to do against Luke Keuchly and the Panthers defense as well. San Francisco are still considered a bottom feeder though as they are nearly two touchdown dogs in this game, and while part of that is due to circumstance as the Panthers are likely going to be furious after last week’s result, they are still not a great football team with plenty of holes to be filled.

The Panthers meanwhile were a Graham Gano field goal away from leaving Denver with a big time season opening win but the kick was wide and the Panthers now face an 0-2 start if they can’t right the ship at home here. Carolina went 15-1 during the regular season last year and while they are without Josh Norman they did get Kelvin Benjamin back who was quite active in his season debut and he will be leaned on heavily again in this one. The Panthers were frustrated with having to face off against the Broncos on the road in their season opener and they will be out for blood here in their home opener and while the spread is huge I think the Cats are going to be out to prove they are Super Bowl contenders in all three phases of the game.
The Niners are 4-1 ATS in their last five against the NFC, 1-4 ATS in their last five road games, and 1-3-1 in their last five ATS in week two while the Panthers are 5-1 ATS in their last six at home following a loss ATS, 7-2 ATS in their last nine on grass, and 19-7-1 ATS in their last 27 home games. This is a lot of points for a professional football game but I think the Panthers are going to come out and absolutely smash the Niners here and winning by more than two scored looks more than feasible.
