Two of the league’s worst teams meet up at Soldier Field on Sunday as the San Francisco 49ers take on the Chicago Bears.
The Niners look for just their second win of the season on Sunday and snap their ugly 10 game losing streak as they head into Chicago to face off against a Bears team that sits with a 2-9 mark and has endured a slew of season changing injuries. San Francisco has been competitive over the last few weeks though as Colin Kaepernick is playing like his former self of late and the Niners perhaps deserve a better fate than what they have at the moment and with the Bears starting Matt Barkley here and having a depleted unit on both sides of the ball this looks like a great spot for the Niners to get a rare road victory. San Fran will need a big game from Kaepernick and running back Carlos Hyde who is arguably the best player of any unit in this football game and that can often dictate the outcome of a close football game.

The Bears meanwhile have been a nightmare to watch this season as every week it seems like they lose another key piece of their team to injury and it is unsure who will and will not be suiting up on a weekly basis. Danny Trevathan will be out for this one and that is a huge blow for Chicago’s defense and with Jay Cutler, Brian Hoyer, and Alshon Jeffery out for the offense this could be another long afternoon for the Bears. Chicago will need to get Barkley into a rhythm early and while the Niners defense hasn’t been great since they lost Navarro Bowman they should be able to bring pressure on Barkley and send him to the turf on a frequent basis.
The Niners are 2-8 ATS in their last 10 overall and 1-4 ATS in their last five against a team with a losing record while the Bears are 1-5 ATS in their last six following a win and 0-9 ATS in their last nine games in week 13. San Fran is in a bit better shape right now and the money is pouring in on them here and while neither team is a safe bet I think the Niners get the nod thanks to Kaepernick’s resurgence.
