The Detroit Lions return home after a road win against the Colts to start the season and they will look to go to 2-0 as they take on the Tennessee Titans.
The Titans were a trendy pick to pull off a week one upset after the Teddy Bridgewater injury but the Vikings defense stole the show and left the Titans scratching their heads as they head into Ford Field to battle the Lions. The Titans did see flashes of brilliance out of Demarco Murray and Tajae Sharpe in their week one loss and both will be on full display here against a Lions defense that was shredded by Andrew Luck last week in a game that could be closer than people think. Tennessee has some serious holes on the defensive side of the ball and as such the Lions will be drooling as Matt Stafford looks like he is back to his old self and with the Lions offense being so strong they will be out to hang a number of points on the board.
The Lions squeaked out a win on the road against the Colts last weekend and will be out for more here as they play in their home opener against Tennessee in a game that could very well light up the score board. Many were worried the Lions would take a hit this season after losing Calvin Johnson but they didn’t miss a beat last week as both Golden Tate and Marvin Jones look poised to carry this offense and with Ameer Abdullah looking to shake his bust label this unit could be in for a breakout season and as such the team could flock around an NFC wild card spot this season. Detroit’s secondary has some issues but they can generate a ton of pressure off the line and while Tennessee’s offensive line is much improved I think they will be in tough here as Ansah and crew look create havoc.
The Titans are 2-5 ATS in their last seven week two games ATS, 1-7 ATS in their last eight on turf, and 0-4 ATS in their last four road games while the Lions are 5-1 ATS in their last six against a team with a losing record, 5-1 ATS in their last six on turf, and 4-0 ATS in their last four overall. Tennessee is an improving group and we could see a nice outing from their offense here, but in the end I think the Lions have too much on both sides of the ball and just sneak out a cover here in a tight game that becomes a bit more open towards the end of the game
