The Philadelphia Eagles travel to Soldier Field to take on the Chicago Bears for some Monday Night Football to close out week 2 of the 2016 NFL regular season.
The Philadelphia Eagles dismantled the Cleveland Browns by a score of 29-10 to start their year off on a positive note. 2016 2nd overall pick Carson Wentz led the Eagles on a 75-yard drive for a touchdown in his NFL debut and never looked back, finishing the day 22 of 37 for 278 yards and 2 touchdowns. Ryan Mathews led the Eagles ground attack with 77 yards and a touchdown on 22 carries. Jordan Matthews stole the show for the Eagles receivers in week 1, catching 7 balls for 114 yards and was on the receiving end of Carson Wentz’s first, of what Eagles fans hope are many touchdown passes. The Eagles got after the Browns defensively, forcing a fumble and an interception while sacking Browns QB Robert Griffin III 3 times, which ended with RGIII going on the IR for 8 weeks at the very least with a broken bone in his shoulder.

The Chicago Bears dropped a 23-14 road decision to the Houston Texans to kick off their 2016 season. Jay Cutler completed 16 of his 29 pass attempts for 216 yards and a touchdown, however he countered that TD with an interception. Jeremy Langford saw the majority of the workload out of the Bears backfield, racking up 57 yards and a touchdown on 17 carries. It was business as usual for Alshon Jeffery, catching 4 passes for 105 yards to lead the team while Eddie Royal caught 4 passes for 57 yards and a touchdown. The Bears showed signs of life on the defensive side of the ball however, registering a sack, a forced fumble and an interception off of Texans QB Brock Osweiler.
Philadelphia is 4-1 ATS in their last 5 Monday games and 1-4 ATS in their last 5 vs. the NFC while the over is 4-0 in their last 4 road games. Chicago is 6-19-1 ATS in their last 26 home games, and 1-4 ATS in their last 5 vs. the NFC while the over is 4-1 in their last 5 vs. the NFC. The underdog has covered the spread in 8 of the last 11 meeting between these two teams.
I’m not sure why this line is the way it is. Sure, Soldier Field is a difficult place to play, especially for a rookie QB making his 2nd career start. But Wentz showed he’s more than capable of running an NFL offense and it’s not like the Bears defense is anything spectacular. This line is a gift, one that I will gladly accept.
I think the Eagles with this one outright, but I’ll take my free points, thank you very much.
