The Jacksonville Jaguars take to the road after a “home” game in London last weekend as they face off against the Chicago Bears.
The Jaguars recorded their first win of the season against the Indianapolis Colts last weekend at Wembley Stadium and they will be out for another as they head into Soldier Field to do battle with the Chicago Bears. The Jags came into the year expecting to breakout as one of the dark horse teams in the AFC, and while there is still plenty of football left to be played and a division that is completely wide open, it is safe to say they have been underwhelming to this point and they will look for a big effort against a Bears side that is playing well right now despite losing a handful of key players. The Jags are solid on both sides of the ball and will need a big effort from TJ Yeldon and Chris Ivory here if they want to get Blake Bortles some ample time to move the ball through the air and against a Bears secondary that is struggling it could be a nice outing from the Jags’ signal caller.
The Bears meanwhile looked as though they were going to roll over after a sluggish start and a handful of decimating injuries but they have responded nicely and have back to back victories on the strength of rookie running back Jordan Howard. Chicago still has a ton of holes but offensively they are looking very sound at the moment as Brian Hoyer has been a huge upgrade over Jay Cutler and now Cameron Meredith has emerged as the go to receiver now that Kevin White is out of the lineup and against a Jaguars side that has plenty of talent on the defensive side of the ball they will have to be sharp. Chicago is at home here which is nice for them and catch the Jags coming across the ocean and having to play another game outside of their own stadium here.
The Jags are 7-3 in their last 10 ATS in week six, 1-4-1 ATS against a team with a losing record, and 2-5 ATS in their last seven overall while the Bears are 4-1 ATS in their last five games in October, 1-5 ATS in their last six overall, and 8-23-1 in their last 32 home games. The Bears are slight favourites here indicating that the odds makers think this should be a Jacksonville victory at a neutral site and while both teams have had their ups and downs I am feeling a little more confident in the Jags here as they are healthier and have a few more play makers on both sides of the ball.
