The Atlanta Falcons and Seattle Seahawks square off Sunday in an intriguing NFC showdown at CenturyLink Field.
The Atlanta Falcons look to build on their surprising 4-1 start and keep their lead in the NFC South. The Atlanta Falcons have won four straight road games. Matt Ryan is completing 69 percent of his passes for 1,740 yards, 12 touchdowns and two interceptions. Ryan has two or more touchdown passes in five of his last six games. Julio Jones and Tevin Coleman have combined for 830 receiving yards and four touchdowns while Mohamed Sanu has 16 receptions. The Atlanta Falcons ground game is averaging 124 yards per contest, and Devonta Freeman leads the way with 410 yards and two touchdowns. Defensively, Atlanta is allowing 28 points and 388.8 yards per game. Kemal Ishmael leads the Atlanta Falcons with 40 tackles, Vic Beasley Jr. has 4.5 sacks and Robert Alford has two interceptions.
The Seattle Seahawks look to remain unbeaten at home and build on their solid 3-1 start. The Seattle Seahawks have won five of their last six regular season games. Russell Wilson is completing 65.4 percent of his passes for 1,064 yards, five touchdowns and one interception. Wilson has two or more touchdown passes in eight of his last 11 games. The Falcons are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 road games and 4-0 ATS in their last 4 games overall. The Seahawks are 3-7-1 ATS vs. a team with a winning record and 1-5 ATS in their last 6 games following a straight up win. The over is 4-1 in the last 5 meetings.
The Atlanta Falcons are starting to prove that they're for real and are the team that everybody overlooked before the season began. So, there's value with the points here. However, playing at Denver and at Seattle back-to-back weeks isn't the easiest thing in the NFL to do. Not to mention the Seahawks are fresh off a bye week where Wilson and others had a chance to nurse some bumps and bruises. The Seahawks will have a fresher quarterback who can actually move in the pocket and make plays with his legs. Also, Seattle's secondary isn't going to allow Julio Jones and others to run wild like they have done up to this point.
I'll take the Seattle Seahawks by a touchdown at home.
