The Arizona Cardinals look to shake off a frustrating tie against their arch rivals from Seattle last weekend as they head into Charlotte to face off against the Carolina Panthers.
The Cardinals look to move above the .500 mark with a road win against the Panthers in a game that in the preseason looked like it could be a preview of the NFC title game but right now with the Cats struggling and Arizona having issues of their own this one looks like just another game on the NFL schedule. Arizona has the personnel to go on a serious run to the Super Bowl and were treated as such in the preseason but they need to get everyone on the same page and have someone more than David Johnson doing something on the offensive side of the ball as the receiving corps and Carson Palmer have been disappointing. The Cards look to be getting the early money here as Carolina is at home coming off a bye and the line here is at a pick em indicating that either the sharps are pouring money on the Cards or the odds makers think Arizona is the much better team.
The Panthers are a dismal 1-5 on the season and have gone from the defending NFC champions to an also ran in the NFC South and need to go on a serious run over the next month and a half if they’re going to play their way back into wild card contention. Cam Newton continues to man the ship behind center and he will have to have one of his best games of the year against a very good Cardinals defense but will need Kelvin Benjamin to step up as the Panthers running game has struggled. Carolina has a strong defense in their own right led by Luke Kuechly but the absence of Josh Norman has received considerable attention and rightfully so as they have been getting eaten alive by the opposition all season long.
The Cards are 12-2 in their last 14 ATS on the road against a team with a losing home record and 21-7 ATS in their last 28 against a team with a losing record while the Panthers are 1-4 ATS in their last five on grass and 0-4 in their last four overall. The wrong team is favoured here and even though the Cats are coming off a bye I think Arizona is the better team and will prove it here with a big win.
