Survivor Pool season continues this weekend and this could be the biggest make or break week of the year as we have a huge number of teams on a bye and a handful of very tough matchups with some of our favourites this week likely already been selected in your pools. Nonetheless, here are this week’s Top Plays and two games to stay away from:
USA TODAY Sports
New England Patriots at Buffalo Bills
The Bills have become one of the dark horse teams to watch out for in the AFC but this is an absolute nightmare of a matchup despite playing at home. New England’s only loss of the season came against these Bills at Gillette Stadium in which the Pats were shut out and had third stringer Jacoby Brissett behind center. Now, they have to deal with Tom Brady, a healthy Rob Gronkowski and a head coach who surely hasn’t forgotten their matchup a few weeks back. Buffalo always plays well at home, but without a healthy Lesean McCoy and a very angry team coming in that has dominated them over the years I think this is as close to a lock as possible this week.
San Diego Chargers vs Denver Broncos
This game is a carbon copy of the Patriots-Bills game except we get the better team at home instead of on the road and that is bad news for the Chargers. San Diego upended Denver in their meeting two weeks back and put themselves back into a position to challenge in the AFC West but this could be an absolute matchup nightmare as the Broncos defense will look to shut down Phillip Rivers at Mile High. San Diego never seems to be out of it with the way their offense is playing and their defense, at least in the front seven, is better than people think but against a Denver defense that has so many play makers and an offense with just as many I think this is a bad spot for San Diego.
Seattle Seahawks at New Orleans Saints
The Seahawks are coming off a tie against the Arizona Cardinals and now travel to Bayou Country to take on a Saints team that is putting up numbers on the offensive side of the ball with the best of them. Seattle looks to be the better team and bring the Legion of Boom in to face off against Drew Brees and company but in a game that figures to be a shootout I am not sold on the Seahawks bring able to keep pace offensively. Russell Wilson has struggled this season but should be in for a great day if his ankle can hold up and Christine Michael is a hard runner that should have a field day against a leaky Saints defense but this should be a very close game and isn’t worth taking a flier on a Seahawks team that many have as a lock in some survivor circles.
New York Jets at Cleveland Browns
The New York Jets head into Cleveland looking to get back in the win column against the winless Cleveland Browns but things many not be as easy for them as people think. Yes, the Browns are winless on the year and still have question marks surrounding their quarterback play but if it is Josh McCown or Cody Kessler going in this one I think they should be able to have success against a soft Jets secondary. Cleveland will look to run the ball with Isaiah Crowell and keep the Jets offense off the field but even so the Jets haven’t been impressing and are now left with Ryan Fitzpatrick in a situation that is quickly becoming uneasy between Fitz, Todd Bowles, and management. This could be a good a spot as any for the Browns to get their first win and while many have employed the idea of fading Cleveland this season this is not the best place to do it.
