The Atlanta Falcons take on the Philadelphia Eagles in week 10 NFL action.
The Atlanta Falcons won their 2nd straight game to improve to 6-3 following a 43-28 victory over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in week 9’s edition of Thursday Night Football. Matt Ryan shined in the lights of primetime, completing 25 of his 34 passes for 344 yards and 4 touchdowns on the evening. Devonta Freeman led the Falcons ground attack with 77 yards on 17 carries as part of the Falcon’s 136 team rushing yards on 34 carries. As has been the story for most of the season, Julio Jones once again led the Falcons with team-highs in receptions with 8 and yardage with 111 yards including a touchdown on the night. Mohamed Sanu and Taylor Gabriel each had 5 receptions, with Sanu putting up 74 yards and Gabriel putting up 52 right behind him, however it was Gabriel that got on the scoresheet with a 9 yard rushing score. Defensively, it was another shootout for the Falcons, as they allowed 28+ points for the 6th time in 9 games to this point. Atlanta did however put pressure on Bucs QB Jameis Winston, sacking him 3 times before forcing him from the game due to a knee injury. However one has to wonder how long Atlanta can keep up offensively with their defensive shortcomings, and that will be tested this week against a solid Eagles lineup.

The Philadelphia Eagles lost their 2nd straight and 4th in 5 games following a 28-23 defeat at the hands of the New York Giants. Carson Wentz appeared to break out of his slump, completing 27 of 47 passes for 364 yards, however he did have 2 interceptios to put a blemish on his statline. It was Darren Sproles’ turn this week to lead the Eagles on the ground as he racked up 57 yards on his 13 carries. Ryan Mathews, who has been splitting the work with the aforementioned Sproles, used his 5 carries to put up just 15 yards, however one of those turned out to be an 8-yard touchdown run. Zach Ertz led the Eagles with 97 receiving yards on a team-high 8 receptions while Jordan Matthews caught 6 balls for 88 yards of his own on the day. Defensively, it was a decent outing for the Eagles as they managed to pick off Giants QB Eli Manning twice while holding the G-men to just 302 yards of total offense. However Philly only brought Manning down once, and they allowed Manning to throw for 4 touchdowns on the day, which could spell trouble against Atlanta who has a star QB of their own in the previously mentioned Matt Ryan and a stud receiver in Julio Jones.
Atlanta is 6-0 ATS in their last 6 road games and 6-2 ATS in their last 8 games overall while the over is 6-0 in their last 6 vs. the NFC. Philadelphia is 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games overall and 1-4 ATS in their last 5 vs. the NFC while the over is 13-6-1 in their last 20 week 10 matchups. Atlanta is 2-5 ATS in their last 7 meetings in Philadelphia.
I don’t know why this spread is so low. The Eagles are slipping as teams have finally figured out how to get to Carson Wentz. Despite their breakout in week 9, Philly’s offense is sputtering, which could cause them problems against a Falcons offense that seems to score at will. Atlanta sees a division title on the horizon and need to take advantage of situations like this if they are going to capture another NFC South crown. By no means is Philly a pushover, but I have to ride the hotter offense here.
Lay the point with Atlanta.
