A pair of playoff hopefuls do battle in week 15 NFL action as the Detroit Lions go to the Meadowlands to take on the New York Giants in week 15 NFL action.
The Detroit Lions improved to 9-4 by winning their 5th straight game, their last outing being a 20-17 victory over Chicago. Matthew Stafford’s numbers didn’t exactly jump off the page, but he got the job done, completing 21 of 35 passes for 223 yards and a touchdown that was countered with a pair of interceptions while being sacked 3 times in the game. Stafford did however call his own number 4 times for 15 yards and the game-winning touchdown. Dwayne Washington ended up as the lead back in Detroit’s win, with Theo Riddick out with a wrist injury. Washinton logged 64 yards on 16 carries. Marvin Jones Jr. led the team with 67 receiving yards on 4 receptions while Golden Tate caught a team-high 6 passes for 58 yards. Anquan Boldin hauled in 3 passes of his own for 49 yards and a touchdown. Defensively, Detroit couldn’t get much pressure to Bears QB Matt Barkley, sacking him only once on the day thanks to Kerry Hyder while allowing just under 300 yards of total offense.

The New York Giants got their biggest win of the season over the Dallas Cowboys in week 14’s edition of Sunday Night Football with a tight 10-7 win to improve to 9-4 on the season. Eli Manning notched his lowest yardage output of the season, totaling 193 yards, a touchdown and an interception, while being sacked a total of 3 times. Rashad Jennings and Paul Perkins couldn’t separate from one another, as each recorded 15 carries for 45 yards. Odell Beckham Jr. caught a team-high 4 passes to lead the Giants with 94 yards and the key touchdown to put the G-men ahead late in the 3rd quarter. After OBJ, Sterling Shepard was the only other Giant to record more than 2 passes, catching 3 balls for 39 yards on the night. Defensively, New York held a red-hot Cowboys offense to just 260 yards of total offense, while Sacking Dallas QB Dak Prescott 3 times and picking him off twice in the win, while also forcing 4a pair of fumbles, recovering one of them.
Detroit is 6-1 ATS in their last 7 games vs. the NFC and 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games overall while the under is 6-0 in their last 6 games following a win. New York is 6-2-1 ATS in their last 10 games overall and 3-1-1 ATS in their last 5 vs. the NFC while the under is 4-0 in their last 4 games following a win. The visitor is 6-1 ATS in the last 7 meetings between these two teams.
This has game of the week potential, and because of that I’ll side with Detroit and the points. I know New York just got a huge win over Dallas, but Detroit has their eyes set on a division title, which can’t be overlooked.
Give me Detroit and the points.
