The Green Bay Packers continue their pursuit of the NFC North crown as they host the Minnesota Vikings at Lambeau on Saturday.
The Vikings started the season as the talk of the league with their stifling defense and serviceable offense but they have hit a road block through the second half of the season and have been downright awful of late. The VIkes did get Adrian Peterson back last week as they look to make a final push at a playoff spot but they were embarrassed at home and are running out of time to salvage their season and this weekend’s test against a Packers side that is starting to pick up steam is not a great matchup. Minnesota will need their top end defense to keep Aaron Rodgers and the suddenly surging Packers offense in tow or else this game and their season could go up in flames as the Vikings offense has been woeful this season.
The Packers were left for dead a few weeks ago but they have ridden the play of their franchise cornerstone en route to a late season surge and if they can win out they have a shot at taking down the Lions for the division title. Green Bay finally got a breakout effort from a running back as Ty Montgomery went off last weekend for a pair of scores and well over a hundred yards on the ground and if he can give Rodgers a bit of space with a fast start and the offensive line continues to play at a high level the Packers should be able to open things up and create some separation on the score board.
The Vikings are 5-1 ATS in their last six games in week 16 and 8-3 ATS in their last 11 on grass while the Packers are 4-1 ATS in their last five Saturday games and 5-2 ATS in their last last following a failed cover. This is a ton of points but the Vikings can’t score and I think Rodgers will do enough to get the win and a late cover as Green Bay wins by 10.
