The Tennessee Titans look to keep their playoff hopes alive as they head to the road to face off against the Jacksonville Jaguars on Saturday.
The Titans are coming off a huge road win against the Kansas City Chiefs and are looking for an encore as they face off against the 2-12 Jacksonville Jaguars who have had a very disappointing season despite having one of the league’s best defenses. The Titans have surpassed expectations in their second season with Marcus Mariota behind centre and while the former Heisman Trophy winner has cooled off over the last few weeks he has led a strong offense that is spearheaded by Demarco Murray who is having a resurgent season in this his first in the Music City. Tennessee is in the mix in the AFC South and could very well slip in as division winners if they can close out the season with back to back wins.
The Jaguars meanwhile can’t seem to find a way to win football games this season despite being decently competitive in a lot of them and for a group that was expected to break out as a team to watch for in the AFC they have fallen well short of expectations. Jacksonville has just fired head coach Gus Bradley and that should light a fire under the players this weekend against a divisional foe and while they will not be going to the playoffs and will likely land a top five draft pick they can play spoiler here against a team they do no like very much and match up with pretty well.
The Titans are 4-20-3 ATS against a team with a losing record and 0-6-1 in their last seven ATS in week 16 while the Jags are 3-1-1 ATS in their last five games in week 16 and 2-6 ATS in their last eight following a cover. The line has moved up to five which looks to be a little too much as Tennessee will love and die with the run here and face off against a very good Jags defense that in the very least should keep this game close.
