The BC Lions and Toronto Argonauts meet Friday in CFL action at the BMO Field.
The BC Lions look for their first victory of the season after losing to the Edmonton Eskimos on Saturday. The BC Lions have won four of their last six road games. Jonathon Jennings is completing 64.7 percent of his passes for 264 yards, zero touchdowns and zero interceptions. Jennings has 42 touchdown passes in 27 career CFL games. Nick Moore and Marco Iannuzzi have combined for 143 receiving yards on eight receptions while Bryan Burnham has four receptions. The BC Lions ground game is averaging 130 yards per contest, and Jeremiah Johnson leads the way with 92 yards and one touchdown. Defensively, BC is allowing 30 points and 420 yards per game. Solomon Elimimian leads the BC Lions with five tackles, Craig Roh has one sack and Chandler Fenner has one pass deflection.
The Toronto Argonauts look for a quick 2-0 start to the season after crushing the Hamilton Tiger-Cats week one. The Toronto Argonauts haven’t won back-to-back games since July of last year. Ricky Ray is completing 78 percent of his passes for 506 yards, one touchdown and zero interceptions. Ray has 16 touchdown passes in his last 10 games played. DeVier Posey and S.J. Green have combined for 271 receiving yards and one touchdown while Jeff Fuller has three receptions. The Toronto Argonauts ground game is averaging 39 yards per contest, and Brandon Whitaker leads the way with 21 yards and on nine carries. Defensively, Toronto is allowing 15 points and 258 yards per game. Marcus Ball leads the Toronto Argonauts with six tackles, Victor Butler has two sacks and Cassius Vaughn has one interception.
The Lions are 10-4 ATS in their last 14 road games, 9-3 ATS in their last 12 games as an underdog and 1-5 ATS vs. a team with a winning record. The Argonauts are 10-25 ATS in their last 35 home games, 0-6 ATS vs. a team with a losing record and 1-7 ATS in their last 8 games overall. The Lions are 5-1 ATS in their last 6 meetings in Toronto and the under is 19-7 in the last 26 meetings.
The Toronto Argonauts were very impressive in their season debut and are going to have a lot of success this season overall if Ray can continue to play the way he did against Hamilton. BC struggled to get off the field defensively in its opener, and it's hard seeing things being drastically different with this game on the road. The home team has won the last six games between Toronto and BC, and based on the way the Argonauts looked in their opener, I'll side with them in this toss-up game at home.
