The Seattle Seahawks host the Minnesota Vikings at Century Link Field on Friday night in a battle of NFC counterparts.
The Vikings look to make a statement in the early going of the preseason by taking down the Seattle Seahawks at Century Link field and while it is still a ways off from pulling off the same feat in the regular season, it would still be a nice confidence boost for the Vikes to get the win here. Minnesota will be looking to keep pace in the NFC North and at this rate they could be the favourites to win the divisional crown as the Packers seem to be very one dimensional, and the Lions and Bears still seem to be a couple of steps behind. Minny will likely get more of their first string guys involved in this one as the regular season approaches but the same can be said about the Seahawks top guys and pound for pound I think they are still a step ahead of where Minnesota is.
The Seahawks have become one of the league’s power house franchises over the last handful of seasons and while they may have lost a bit of their ferociousness on defense with guys coming and going they are still very much one of the league’s best teams. Doug Baldwin has emerged as a very reliable yet underrated receiver for the Hawks and with so much versatility coming from the quarterback position with Russell Wilson it makes this team very tough to stop on offense and is a perfect compliment to their exceptional defense.
The Vikings are 20-6 in their last 26 ATS on turf and 1-5 ATS in their last six on the road while the Seahawks are 5-1 ATS in their last six home games and 6-2 ATS in their last eight on turf. This figures to be a close game and while the kicking game shouldn’t be relied on in preseason I think it can make a difference and I give the edge to Seattle who win and cover.
