Out at MetLife Stadium on Saturday, we’ve got a Week 3 Snoopy Bowl preseason game coming between the New York Jets and the New York Giants.
The Jets are looking to take a step forward after a pretty abysmal 5-11 season that saw them finish dead last in the AFC East. During the offseason, the Jets unloaded several players and will have a new-look team in 2017. Coming to the team this year are T Ben Ijalana, LB Josh Martin, CB Marcus Williams and G Brian Winters.

In the Jets’ first preseason game, they bagged a 7-3 win over the Titans. Last week in Detroit, the Jets fell 16-6. QB Bryce Petty was the leading passer for the Jets in that one, going 15-of-24 for 160 yards and a pick.
Over on the Giants’ side, they’re coming off a successful 11-5 campaign that saw them finish second in a tough NFC East. The Giants clinched a Wild Card berth, but lost in the first postseason game to the Packers 38-13. New faces coming to the Giants this year include WR Brandon Marshall, TE Rhett Ellison and RB Shaun Draughn.
So far this preseason, the Giants are 0-2, falling 20-12 to the Steelers and 10-6 to the Browns. In that last game, Eli Manning went 10-for-14 for 80 yards.
The big injury issue for the Giants right now is star WR Odell Beckham, who sprained his ankle in the Browns game. Beckham certainly won’t be playing here, and may even miss a regular season game or two. As for the Jets, they’re watching Quincy Enunwa (who will be out), Jamal Adams, Matt Forte and Kellen Davis.
The Jets are 2-5 ATS in their last seven road games and 0-3-1 ATS in their last four Saturday games. The under is 4-1 in the Jets’ last five Saturday games and 8-3 in the Jets’ last 11 road games.
Meanwhile, the Giants are 4-0 ATS in their last four Saturday games and 6-1 ATS in their last seven games on fieldturf. The Giants are 5-1 ATS in their last six home games and the under is 4-0 in the Giants’ last four home games.
This one’s probably a coin flip, and rightfully so. After the Beckham injury, the Giants will likely be keeping tabs on their key guys, who might not play as much as usual. As for the Jets, they’ve really got nothing to lose since no one is expecting anything from the team this year. I expect a low-scoring game, so the under is probably a good play. I’ll also take the Jets to eke out a win.
