The Line: Buffalo Bills -- Over/Under: See the Latest Odds
The Detroit Lions and the Buffalo Bills meet on Thursday to close out their respective 2017 NFL preseasons at New Era Field.
The Detroit Lions will look to close out the preseason above .500 after taking their first loss of the preseason, a 30-28 loss to New England in week three. Matt Stafford saw the bulk of the workload, completing 15 of 22 pass attempts for 190 yards, a pair of touchdowns and an interception while Jake Rudock threw for 113 yards and a touchdown in relief. Ameer Abdullah used his team-high 13 carries to rack up 60 yards, while Marvin Jones Jr. and Golden Tate tied for the team lead with 62 receiving yards. Jones Jr. also hauled in a touchdown grab while Golden Tate notched a team-high 5 receptions. Jared Abbrederis and Dwayne Washington each hauled in a touchdown grab through the air. A Glover Quin interception highlighted a poor defensive showing from the Lions, as Detroit allowed a total of 417 yards of total offense and 299 yards through the air, both team-highs through the first three weeks of the preseason.
USA TODAY Sports
The Buffalo Bills will look to get a win on the board after falling to 0-3 this preseason thanks to their 13-9 loss to Baltimore in week three. T.J. Yates led the team with 102 yards on 8 of 15 passing with an interception. Nathan Peterman completed 11 of 23 pass attempts for 93 yards in relief, while expected starter Tyrod Taylor threw for a single yard. Joe Banyard led the Bills with team-highs of 25 yards on 7 carries while Brandon Reilly led the Bills’ receiving corps with 55 yards receiving on 4 receptions. Charles Clay also caught 4 balls for 47 yards of his own in the loss. Max Valles had a sack to highlight a solid effort from the Bills’ defense, holding Baltimore to just 209 yards of total offense, the lowest total of any team in week three, even in defeat.
Detroit is 2-6 ATS in their last 8 road games and 0-5 ATS in their last 5 games overall while the under is 4-1 in their last 5 games on turd. Buffalo is 1-4 ATS in their last 5 home games and 1-5 ATS in their last 6 games overall while the over is 8-0 in their last 8 home games. The under is 5-0 in the last 5 meetings between these two teams.
I'm leaning towards Detroit because they have the depth, however there isn't a line as of yet due to Tyrod Taylor being questionable for this one, so once a line is released, please check back for your free pick.
