TV: CBS

The Miami Dolphins and Los Angeles Chargers meet Sunday in NFL action at StubHub Center.

The Miami Dolphins will play their first game of the season after their season debut was postponed due to Hurricane Irma. The Miami Dolphins have won four of their last five road games. The Dolphins head into this season with a promising offense led by running back Jay Ajayi and wide receivers Jarvis Landry, Kenny Stills and DeVante Parker. Newly added tight end Julius Thomas is also an intriguing player considering he was a double-digit touchdown target a couple years ago with the Denver Broncos. If former retired quarterback Jay Cutler can manage his risky throws and get on the same page as his teammates, Miami could be one of the better offensive teams in the league this season. Defensively is where the questions come in, as the Dolphins were 30th last year in total rushing yards allowed and 29th in total yards allowed per game. The good news for Miami is that Ndamukong Suh and Cameron Wake still form one of the better defensive line duos and the return of injured safety Reshad Jones is a massive boost to the Dolphins secondary.

Los Angeles Chargers vs. Miami Dolphins - 9/17/17 NFL Pick, Odds, and Prediction

USA TODAY Sports

The Los Angeles Chargers could use a bounce back performance after losing to the Denver Broncos, 24-21. The Los Angeles Chargers have lost four straight home games. Philip Rivers is completing 66.7 percent of his passes for 192 yards, three touchdowns and one interception. Rivers has two or more touchdown passes in four of his last six games. Tyrell Williams and Travis Benjamin have combined for 97 receiving yards and one touchdown while Keenan Allen has five receptions. The Los Angeles Chargers ground game is averaging 64 yards per contest, and Melvin Gordon leads the way with 54 yards on 18 carries. Defensively, Los Angeles is allowing 24 points and 321 yards per game. Jatavis Brown leads the Los Angeles Chargers with 14 tackles, Joey Bosa has 1.5 sacks and Melvin Ingram has one tackle for loss.

The Dolphins are 1-5 ATS in their last 6 games in September, 3-9 ATS in their last 12 games in Week 2 and 9-20 ATS in their last 29 vs. AFC. The Chargers are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games in Week 2, 5-16 ATS in their last 21 home games and 0-5 ATS in their last 5 games overall. The Dolphins are 8-3 ATS in their last 11 meetings, the home team is 6-1 ATS in their last 7 meetings and the under is 12-1 in the last 13 meetings.

I'm not sure why the Chargers are getting this much love. The Dolphins have had an extra week to prepare for this game and the Chargers are coming off a late, late Monday night game. There's also little concern of jetlag for the Dolphins considering they left for the west coast last week to get away from the hurricane. There's also the fact the Dolphins just beat the Chargers on the road last November when they were four-point underdogs. I get it's not easy to throw a new QB on a team and hit the ground running, but this is probably the most talent Cutler has had around him. I think the fins could surprise some people this season. Give me the points and the rested team.
