Out at O.co Coliseum on Sunday, September 17, the New York Jets and the Oakland Raiders will be meeting up in Week 2 NFL action.
The Jets are coming off a 21-12 loss to the Bills in Week 1, leaving them at 0-1 on this young season. New York QB Josh McCown finished 26-of-39 for 187 yards and two picks, while Bilal Powell tallied just 22 yards on seven carries. WR Jermaine Kearse led the Jets with seven receptions for 59 yards.

New York finished a very disappointing 5-11 last season, dead last in the AFC East. The bad year led to a complete overhaul of the roster for the 2017 campaign.
Over on the Raiders’ side, they’re currently 1-0 on the year after a 26-16 victory over the Titans in Week 1. Oakland QB Derek Carr finished 22-of-32 in that game for 262 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Marshawn Lynch was the Raiders’ top rusher with 18 carries for 76 yards, and Michael Crabtree hauled in six catches for 83 yards.
Oakland went 12-4 last season, but still finished second in the tough AFC West division. The Raiders’ playoff aspirations were dashed in the first round, however, as Oakland fell to the Texans 27-14 in the Wild Card Game.
The Jets are 3-0-1 ATS in their last four games in Week 2, and 2-6 ATS in their last eight road games. New York is also 1-4 ATS in their last five versus a team with a winning record and 1-4 ATS in their last five games in September.
Meanwhile, the Raiders are 5-1 ATS in their last six games in September and 4-1 ATS in their last five home games. Oakland is also 8-3 ATS in their last 11 games on grass and 7-3 ATS in their last 10 versus the AFC.
This matchup marks a pair of teams at opposite ends of the NFL spectrum, as the Raiders have high hopes at doing some damage in the playoffs this year and the Jets are destined to play for draft position. That said, New York isn’t completely and totally inept; they’ve still got a pretty decent defense and may be able to hang around here. I like the Jets to lose the game, but also eke out a cover.
