The Atlanta Falcons and Detroit Lions meet up at Ford Field in the Motor City in a battle of two undefeated teams on Sunday.
The Falcons are coming off a statement victory at home against the Green Bay Packers in a game where the Atlanta offense exploded and made the Packers defense look elementary, and they will be out for an encore against their second straight NFC North opponent in the Detroit Lions. Atlanta is coming off a well publicized Super Bowl collapse and many wondered if they would be able to recover from it, and after a tough opening week win against the Chicago Bears they silenced their critics against Green Bay and can further cement their title as a contender again this season with a road win this week against the Lions. Atlanta is without Vic Beasley for a while after sustaining an injury last weekend which is a huge blow for their defense and one that could be the different in the outcome of this one as the Lions defense looked great last week against the New York Giants.

The Lions have quietly raced out to a 2-0 record and are looking like a team that could very well challenge for the NFC North division crown as the Packers have had their issues, the Vikings are without Sam Bradford, and the Bears are in a full blown rebuild leaving the Lions in a great spot to take a stranglehold on the division. The Lions were excellent on the defensive side of things last weekend as they held the Giants in check and absolutely thrashed their offensive line thanks in large part to a highlight reel game from Ezekiel Ansah, but things don’t get any easier for them here as they face off against one of the league’s best offenses and so far Matt Ryan, Julio Jones, Devonta Freeman, and company are looking very strong.
The Falcons are 4-1 ATS in their last five games in week three and 8-2 ATS in their last 10 games on the road while the Lions are 6-2 ATS in their last eight games at home but winless against the spread in their last four against a team with a winning record. This figures to be a very exciting game and one that Matt Stafford should keep the Lions in until the last minute which should give them a chance at a win and at least a cover.
