The Pittsburgh Steelers and Chicago Bears meet Sunday in NFL action at the Soldier Field.
The Pittsburgh Steelers look for their second road victory to start 3-0 for the first time since 2010. The Pittsburgh Steelers have won five straight road games. Ben Roethlisberger is completing 66.2 percent of his passes for 506 yards, four touchdowns and one interception. Roethlisberger has two or more touchdown passes in five of his last seven games. Antonio Brown and Martavis Bryant have combined for 349 receiving yards and one touchdown while Jesse James has 10 receptions. The Pittsburgh Steelers ground game is averaging 68.5 yards per contest, and Le'Veon Bell leads the way with 119 yards on 37 carries. Defensively, Pittsburgh is allowing 13.5 points and 237 yards per game. Ryan Shazier leads the Pittsburgh Steelers with 15 tackles, Anthony Chickillo has two sacks and T.J. Watt has one interception.
The Chicago Bears would love a win here to avoid an 0-3 start for the third straight season. The Chicago Bears have lost five of their last seven home games. Mike Glennon is completing 67.1 percent of his passes for 514 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions. Glennon has three touchdown passes on his last 96 pass attempts. The Steelers are 5-2 ATS in their last 7 road games, 6-2 ATS in their last 8 games in September and 8-3-1 ATS in their last 12 games overall. The Bears are 1-8 ATS in their last 9 games in September, 5-1 ATS in their last 6 home games and 4-0 ATS vs. a team with a winning record. The under is 4-1 in Steelers last 5 games overall and the over is 11-5 in Bears last 16 games in September.
I'm not comfortable laying this line with the Steelers on the road, especially with the hook, as it leaves us open for a backdoor cover. Instead I'm going to side with the over. The Bears have a ton of injuries and were just blasted by Tampa Bay for 26 first half points and it would have been a lot worse if the Bucs didn't take their foot off the gas in the second half. We all know the Steelers have the offsenive firepower to blow things wide open when they feel like it. As for the Steelers defense, it hasn't been tested yet, as it faced a rookie QB week 1 and a third string option last week. Glennon and company should be able to chip in at least a couple touchdowns. This feels like a game that could end in the 35-17 range, putting us over the total and staying away from an uncomfortable number.
