The San Francisco 49ers and Arizona Cardinals meet Sunday in NFL action at U of Phoenix Stadium.

The San Francisco 49ers would love a victory here to avoid their first 0-4 start since 2010. The San Francisco 49ers have lost 10 of their last 11 road games. Brian Hoyer is completing 62.6 percent of his passes for 624 yards, two touchdowns and three interceptions. Hoyer has two touchdown passes in four of his last eight games. Pierre Garcon and Marquise Goodwin have combined for 358 receiving yards on 24 catches while Carlos Hyde has 12 receptions. The San Francisco 49ers ground game is averaging 107.7 yards per contest, and Hyde leads the way with 253 yards and two touchdowns. Defensively, San Francisco is allowing 25.3 points and 339 yards per game. NaVorro Bowman leads the San Francisco 49ers with 20 tackles, Arik Armstead has one sack and Jaquiski Tartt has one interception.

The Arizona Cardinals look for their first home victory of the season to get back to a .500 record. The Arizona Cardinals are 3-3-1 SU in their last seven home games. Carson Palmer is completing 56.8 percent of his passes for 925 yards, four touchdowns and four interceptions. Palmer has two or more touchdown passes in seven of his last 10 games. Larry Fitzgerald and J.J. Nelson have combined for 407 receiving yards and three touchdowns while Andre Ellington has 10 receptions. The Arizona Cardinals ground game is averaging 59 yards per contest, and Chris Johnson leads the way with 61 yards on 23 carries. Defensively, Arizona is allowing 25.3 points and 302 yards per game. Tyvon Branch leads the Arizona Cardinals with 30 tackles, Chandler Jones has four sacks and Justin Bethel has one interception.

The 49ers are 0-5 ATS in their last 5 games in October, 6-13 ATS vs. a team with a losing record and 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games overall. The Cardinals are 1-4 ATS vs. a team with a losing record, 2-5 ATS in their last 7 games in October and 3-10 ATS in their last 13 games overall. The 49ers are 8-3 ATS in their last 11 meetings in Arizona and the underdog is 5-2 ATS in their last 7 meetings.

I’m not sure what the Cardinals have done this season to deserve giving away a touchdown against anybody. The Cardinals only victory was a three-point win over the lousy Colts, and they have a short week after playing Monday night against the Dallas Cowboys. The Cards offense has really struggled due to a lack of running game and Palmer is showing his age with every snap, as he’s becoming more and more turnover prone and isn’t the most accurate in the world. Yes, the 49ers aren’t that great of a team in their own right, but they did put up a fight against the Seahawks, losing by just three points, and they dropped 39 points on the Rams, a game they had a shot to win. Not to mention the 49ers also have a mini bye week after playing last Thursday. So we have two underwhelming teams, one is getting a free touchdown and has had a week and a half off, while the other is laying a touchdown and has six days to prepare.

Give me my free touchdown and the 49ers.
