The Philadelphia Eagles look for a statement road victory against the Carolina Panthers as both teams look to move to 5-1 after week six action.
The Eagles are coming off an absolute thrashing of the Arizona Cardinals at home last weekend and they will be out for an encore on the road against the Panthers in Charlotte in what should be a very exciting contest featuring two NFC playoff hopefuls. The Eagles have reversed course in a very short time and their rejuvenation this season is owed to the play of sophomore quarterback Carson Wentz and their strong defensive front seven and in this game against the Panthers they know they are going to have to find a way to contain Cam Newton who looks as good as ever right now and has added some much needed confidence to a Panthers team that had a dismal season a year ago. Philly heads in to this one as an underdog floating around the field goal mark and it will likely stay there as this should be a close contest but home field advantage lies with the Panthers who have been great against their spread over the last few seasons in October.

The Panthers meanwhile are on a tear right now as they are 4-1 through their first five weeks that includes two back to back wins against the Patriots and Lions on the road and now return home looking to prove they are among the league’s elite this season. Carolina is rock solid on both sides of the ball as they have weapons at their disposal on offense led by Newton, Devin Funchess, Christian McCaffery, and Kelvin Benjamin and with Luke Kuechly running the show on defense this is a group that should be able to give Wentz and company fits if they can’t run the ball early. The Panthers though have struggled to cover at home of late as they are 1-5 in their last six ATS when playing at home and with this one on a short week in prime time there is no predicting how this game will unfold.
The Eagles are 6-2 ATS in their last eight overall and 3-7 ATS in their last 10 road games while the Panthers are 12-5 ATS in their last 17 in October and 2-6 ATS in their last eight Thursday games. This one figures to be a very competitive game and is one the Eagles could win outright so getting the field goal here is the play as they cover.
