The New York Jets and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers duke it out in an inter-conference matchup in week 10 NFL action from Raymond James Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
The New York Jets will look to climb back to .500 after hitting a 4-5 record with their 34-21 victory over the Buffalo Bills to kick off week 9 on Thursday Night Football. Josh McCown completed 14 of his 20 pass attempts for 140 yards and a touchdown while also added a rushing score of his own in the win. Matt Forte led the Jets’ ground attack with 14 carries for 77 yards and a pair of touchdowns, while Bilal Powell racked up 74 yards of his own on 9 carries. Robby Anderson led the team with 4 catches for 48 yards and the team’s lone receiving touchdown while Jermaine Kearse and Austin Seferian-Jenkins added 38 and 20 yards respectively. It was a busy night for the Jets’ defense, combining for 6 sacks and 3 forced fumbles, all of which New York fell on top of as they held the Bills to 307 yards of total offense in the win.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers desperately need a win to halt a 5-game slide after falling to 2-6 this season thanks to a 30-10 shellacking at the hands of the New Orleans Saints last time out. Jameis Winston and Ryan Fitzpatrick combined to throw for 135 yards and a touchdown on 15 of 28 passing, while the Bucs combined as a team to rush for 87 yards on 25 carries. No Tampa Bay receiver caught more than 2 passes in the loss, led by DeSean Jackson who racked up a team-high 25 receiving yards in the losing effort. Not much went right for the Bucs defense, aside from a Robert Ayers sack and a pair of forced fumbles, one of which the Buccaneers fell on top of as the Saints put up 407 yards of total offense in the win.
New York is 6-0-1 ATS in their last 7 games overall and 1-3-1 ATS in their last 5 road games while the under is 4-1 in their last 5 games against a team with a losing record. Tampa Bay is 0-6-1 ATS in their last 7 games overall and 0-4-1 ATS in their last 5 games following a loss while the under is 6-1 in their last 7 home games. New York is 5-0 ATS in the last 5 meetings between these two teams.
I had Tampa Bay to turn the corner a couple of weeks ago, knowing that if they lost it would probably be nearing the end of their playoff hopes. Now they’re 2-6 and look like a team that’s just trying to get back up and could be resigned to their fate of a high draft pick. The Jets continue to be one of the league’s surprises this season, proving critics (including myself) wrong about the team’s chances this season. The Jets are right in the thick of things and I think they get back to .500 with a big road win and cover here.
