The Buffalo Bills and the Los Angeles Chargers duke it out from the StubHub Center in week 11 NFL action on Sunday afternoon.
The Buffalo Bills will try to bounce back after back-to-back losses, including a 47-10 rout at the hands of New Orleans in their last outing to slip to 5-4 this season. Nathan Peterman and Tyrod Taylor combined to throw for 135 yards, a touchdown and an interception on 16 of 28 passing. LeSean McCoy led the team with 49 rushing yards on 8 carries, while Kelvin Benjamin led the Bills in receiving with 3 catches for 42 yards. The aforementioned McCoy and Patrick DiMarco each caught 3 passes apiece, while Nick O’Leary added a consolation TD grab late in the 4th quarter. Defensively, the Bills had no answer for the Saints’ offense, giving up 482 yards of total offense, including 298 yards rushing and 6 touchdowns on the ground.
The Los Angeles Chargers will also try to bounce back after back-to-back defeats, with their most recent outing ending in a heartbreaking 20-17 loss to Jacksonville last time out. Philip Rivers threw for 235 yards, 2 touchdowns and an interception on 21 of 37 passing, while Austin Ekeler led L.A. with 42 rushing yards on 10 carries, and 5 receptions for 77 yards and both of the Chargers’ touchdowns in the loss. Tyrell Williams chipped in 49 receiving yards, while Keenan Allen added 4 catches and Melvin Gordon caught 5 balls out of the backfield for L.A. Defensively, Tre Boston had a pair of interceptions and the Chargers combined for 3 sacks, but it wasn’t enough as the Jags put up 398 yards of total offense in the game.
Buffalo is 1-11 ATS in their last 12 games following a double-digit loss at home and 1-3-1 ATS in their last 5 games overall while the over is 4-0 in their last 4 games overall. Los Angeles is 7-19 ATS in their last 26 home games and 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games overall while the under is 6-0 in their last 6 games against the AFC. The home team is 5-1 ATS in the last 6 meetings between these two teams.
See for me, the Bills are the definition of a pretender in the AFC playoff picture, and last week against the Saints proved that. The Chargers don’t look like they’re going to be much of a factor in the playoff picture themselves, but they led for a good chunk of the game against the Jaguars, and have the type of ground attack to give the Bills fits like New Orleans did last week, so I’ll take the Chargers here and lay the points.
