The New England Patriots and Oakland Raiders meet Sunday in NFL action at Estadio Azteca.
The New England Patriots look to stay hot while building on their five-game winning streak. The New England Patriots haven’t lost a regular season road game since January of 2016. Brandin Cooks and Rob Gronkowski have combined for 1,220 receiving yards and eight touchdowns while Chris Hogan has 33 receptions. The Oakland Raiders look for back-to-back victories here to get back to a .500 record. The Oakland Raiders have lost three of their last four road games. Derek Carr is completing 65.2 percent of his passes for 1,954 yards, 13 touchdowns and seven interceptions. Carr has one touchdown pass in five of his last six games. Jared Cook and Amari Cooper have combined for 961 receiving yards and four touchdowns while Michael Crabtree has 36 receptions. The Oakland Raiders ground game is averaging 87.6 yards per contest, and Marshawn Lynch leads the way with 323 yards and four touchdowns. Defensively, Oakland is allowing 23.8 points and 361.1 yards per game. Karl Joseph leads the Oakland Raiders with 50 tackles, Khalil Mack has 4.5 sacks and TJ Carrie has four pass deflections.
The Patriots are 5-0 ATS vs. a team with a losing record, 4-1-1 ATS in their last 6 games in Week 11 and 21-7 ATS in their last 28 games overall. The Raiders are 5-0 ATS in their last 5 games following a bye week, 3-1-1 ATS in their last 5 games in November and 1-5-1 ATS in their last 7 games overall. The favorite is 4-1 ATS in their last 5 meetings.
The New England Patriots are showing signs of being the New England Patriots, as the defense has magically turned things around and Brady is carving defenses up with ease. However, we're getting a free touchdown with an Oakland Raiders team that's coming off a bye and has shown signs of finding its groove offensively again. I'm also worried about playing this game at Estadio Azteca, as the elevation is crazy in this stadium and is sure to take its toll on the players. This is likely going to be a conditioning test, and while the Pats probably find a way to win, I see the value in having the free touchdown.
