Down in Mexico City at Estadio Azteca on Sunday, the New England Patriots and the Oakland Raiders will be meeting up for an NFL battle.
New England comes into this one at 7-2 on the year. After a 2-2 start, the Pats have rattled off five straight wins over the Bucaneers, Jets, Falcons, Chargers and Broncos. In that Denver game, New England QB Tom Brady threw for 266 yards with three touchdowns in a 41-16 blowout.
So far this year, Brady has 2807 yards with 19 touchdowns and two picks, and Mike Gillislee is the leading rusher for the Patriots with 355 yards and four TDs on 98 attempts. Brandin Cooks is tops in receiving for New England on 39 catches for 637 yards and three scores.
Over on the Raiders’ side, they’re sitting at 4-5 on the season. After a four-game losing streak, Oakland has won two of their last three games against the Chiefs and Dolphins. In that Miami game, Raiders QB Derek Carr put up 300 yards with a TD and a pick.
On the season, Carr has 1954 yards with 13 TDs and seven INTs, while Marshawn Lynch is the top Oakland rusher with 323 yards and four scores on 86 carries. Jared Cook tops out the Raiders’ receivers with 499 yards and one TD off 39 catches.
The Patriots are 5-0 ATS versus a team with a losing record and 8-0 ATS in their last eight games on grass. New England is also 9-2 ATS in their last 11 games following an ATS win and 4-1-1 ATS in their last six games in Week 11.
Meanwhile, the Raiders are 5-0 ATS in their last five games following a bye week and 3-1-1 ATS in their last five games in November. Oakland is also 1-4-1 ATS in their last six versus the AFC and 1-5-1 ATS in their last seven games overall.
It seems the Patriots are hitting their stride, and they’re imposing their will on the opposition lately. In their last three games, New England has allowed a total of 36 points and scored 85 on the other side. As for Oakland, they came out of the gate strong, but have scored no more than 17 points in any of their losses, and their last two wins have come by four combined points. Given how well New England has played, I can’t imagine they’ll let the Raiders get close here. I’ll take the Patriots to cover.
