We have an NFC West showdown on tap as the Seattle Seahawks face off against the San Francisco 49ers in week 11 NFL action.
The Seattle Seahawks will try to bounce back after falling to Atlanta in their last outing by a final score of 34-31 to close out week 10 on Monday Night Football, sending the Seahawks to 6-4 this season. Russell Wilson threw for 258 yards, 2 touchdowns and an interception on 26 of 42 passing, while also leading the team in rushing with 86 yards and a touchdown on 7 carries. Jimmy Graham led Seattle in receiving with 7 catches for 58 yards and a touchdown, while Paul Richardson added 5 catches for 56 yards and Doug Baldwin chipped in a touchdown grab of his own in the loss. Defensively, Adrian Clayborn continued his monster month with a 10-yard fumble recovery for a touchdown, while the rest of the Seahawks combined for 3 sacks and an interception while holding the Falcons to just 279 yards of total offense in the loss.
The San Francisco 49ers bye week couldn’t have come at a worse time, after notching their 1st win of the season in their last outing by defeating the New York Giants, 31-21, to climb to 1-9 this season. C.J. Beathard threw for 288 yards, 2 touchdowns and an interception on 19 of 25 passing, while Carlos Hyde led the team in rushing with 98 yards on 17 carries, while Matt Breida added 55 rushing yards and a touchdown on 9 carries. Marquise Goodwin’s lone catch went for a touchdown and led the team with 83 yards, while Garrett Celek added 67 yards on 4 catches with a touchdown and Kyle Juszczyk chipped in a team-high 5 catches for 27 yards. On defense, the 49ers combined for 3 sacks and a forced fumble that they also recovered, all while holding the G-Men to 374 yards of total offense in the win.
Seattle is 0-3-1 ATS in their last 4 games overall and 1-3-1 ATS in their last 5 division matchups while the under is 4-1 in their last 5 road games. San Francisco is 6-1 ATS in their last 7 division matchups and 3-9 ATS in their last 12 home games while the under is 17-8 in their last 25 games against a team with a winning record. Seattle is 9-2-1 ATS in the last 12 meetings between these two teams.
Call me crazy, but am I the only one giving the Niners a chance in this game? I know that Seattle is the team with more to play for here, and every win would hurt San Fran’s draft position. But Seattle’s question marks on defense cost them last week, and now this has look-ahead written all over it with a date against the Rams on the horizon. Not to mention the 49ers have to be eager to get back on the field after getting the first win and the monkey off of their backs, so I’ll take a shot with San Fran and the points here in a game I think will be closer than most expect.
