The Houston Texans head into Tennessee on Sunday to battle the Titans in a game that has huge implications on the AFC South playoff picture.
The Texans look to play spoiler and score a huge road victory in Tennessee as they play for their playoff lives but they are going to have to find a way to shake out of their road woes as they have just a single victory away from home this season. Houston has had to endure a number of devastating injuries this season as both JJ Watt and rookie signal caller Deshaun Watson are both out for the season and as such they have continued to fall down the standings with Tom Savage behind center and on the road in a divisional show down against a Titans side that has beaten up on weak road teams this could be another tough outing for Houston.
The Titans meanwhile head into Sunday’s game looking to keep pace in the AFC South as they are 7-4 and looking like a team who should be able to make the playoffs as they have a solid run game, strong potential in quarterback with Marcus Mariota, and a rock solid offensive line that makes them a dangerous team offensively. However, the play of their pivot has been inconsistent and unless Mariota can figure it out in a hurry they could fall behind the Jacksonville Jaguars and fall short of a wild card spot which makes this game so important for Tennessee.
The Texans are 1-4 ATS in their last five against the AFC South and 4-1 ATS in their last five road games while the Titans are 12-38-4 ATS in their last 54 against the AFC and 0-3-1 ATS in their last four in week 13. Houston should be able to keep this one respectable as they are similar in style to the Titans who haven’t been blowing anybody out and haven’t looked like a playoff team over the last few weeks.
