The Detroit Lions and Cincinnati Bengals meet Sunday in NFL action at Paul Brown Stadium.
The Detroit Lions look for a third straight victory to remain in the thick of the NFC playoff race. The Detroit Lions have won four of their last six road games. Matthew Stafford is completing 66.3 percent of his passes for 3,920 yards, 25 touchdowns and nine interceptions. Stafford has two or more touchdown passes in five of his last seven games. Marvin Jones Jr. and Golden Tate have combined for 1,855 receiving yards and 12 touchdowns while Eric Ebron has 47 receptions. The Detroit Lions ground game is averaging 77.4 yards per contest, and Ameer Abdullah leads the way with 513 yards and three touchdowns. Defensively, Detroit is allowing 24.2 points and 362.3 yards per game. Tahir Whitehead leads the Detroit Lions with 95 tackles, Anthony Zettel has 6.5 sacks and Darius Slay has seven interceptions.
The Cincinnati Bengals look to play spoiler while snapping a three-game losing streak. The Cincinnati Bengals have split their last six home games. Andy Dalton is completing 60.1 percent of his passes for 2,860 yards, 21 touchdowns and 11 interceptions. Dalton has two or more touchdown passes in six of his last nine games. A.J. Green and Brandon LaFell have combined for 1,485 receiving yards and 11 touchdowns while Tyler Kroft has 35 receptions. The Cincinnati Bengals ground game is averaging 77 yards per contest, and Joe Mixon leads the way with 518 yards and four touchdowns. Defensively, Cincinnati is allowing 21.8 points and 345.5 yards per game. Nick Vigil leads the Cincinnati Bengals with 79 tackles, Geno Atkins has nine sacks and Darqueze Dennard has one interception.
The Lions are 7-17 ATS in their last 24 games in December, 11-5-1 ATS in their last 17 games following a ATS win and 4-0-1 ATS vs. a team with a losing record. The Bengals are 16-7 ATS in their last 23 games in December and 10-1 ATS in their last 11 games in Week 16. The road team is 4-0 ATS in their last 4 meetings.
The Detroit Lions have played their best and most consistent football on the road this season, and they need to keep winning if they're going to sneak into the playoffs. The Cincinnati Bengals are still a talented football team, but the losses continue to pile up, they're going through off the field issues with Marvin Lewis saying he's not returning, and the offense has produced a combined 14 points in their last two games. Needless to say, the Bengals are a complete mess right now and are a team that's hard to get behind. This is a game the Lions should have little trouble winning with everything factored in and motivation on their side. I'll take Detroit by a touchdown, even if there's better options on the card.
