The Denver Broncos and the Washington Redskins face off in week 16 NFL action on Christmas Eve from FedEx Field.
The Denver Broncos will look to build on back-to-back wins, including a 25-13 victory over the Indianapolis Colts in the week 15 edition of Thursday night football to climb to 5-9 this season. Brock Osweiler threw for 194 yards and 2 touchdowns on 12 of 17 passing, while Trevor Siemian tossed for 67 yards and an interception before leaving due to injury. C.J. Anderson rushed for 158 yards on 30 carries, while the aforementioned Osweiler rushed for a 3rd score as well. Demaryius Thomas led the team with 69 receiving yards, while Emmanuel Sanders came right behind with a team-high 7 catches for 68 yards. Cody Latimer and Jeff Heuerman each chipped in a touchdown grab in the winning effort. On defense, the Broncos combined for a sack and a forced fumble while holding the Colts to just 228 yards of total offense and just over 23 minutes of possession in the win.
The Washington Redskins will try to find some positives and climb back to .500 after being eliminated from postseason contention despite a 20-15 win over Arizona in their last outing. Kirk Cousins threw for 196 yards and 2 touchdowns on 18 of 26 passing, while Samaje Perine added 14 rushes for 37 yards. Jamison Crowder led the team with 5 catches for 55 yards and a touchdown, while Kapri Bibbs chipped in 4 catches of his own for 47 yards and a score as well. The Redskins’ D combined for 4 sacks, an interception and a forced fumble that they also recovered, all while holding the Cardinals to 286 yards of total offense and a 4 for 19 mark on 3rd down, despite allowing over 36 minutes of possession to Arizona in the win.
Denver is 2-8 ATS in their last 10 games overall and 1-6 ATS in their last 7 road games while the under is 4-1 in their last 5 games overall. Washington is 4-7 ATS in their last 11 games overall and 5-2 ATS in their last 7 games against the AFC while the under is 3-1 in their last 4 games overall.
With both of these teams being out of the playoffs, there’s not much to play for but pride here. I’ll give the edge to the Redskins because they’re at home and any win hurts Denver’s draft position, but I’d probably just watch this game and wager my money on a game with more at stake.
