The New Orleans Saints and Carolina Panthers meet up in the NFC wild card round as these two division rivals play their game against each other this season in New Orleans on Sunday.
The Panthers look for their first win of the season against their bitter rivals from New Orleans and send them packing in the process as we have reached the Wild Card round of the NFL playoffs and this one shapes up to be the most exciting matchup of the weekend. Carolina comes into this one as the first wild card team and fifth seed in the NFC but they have looked like Super Bowl contenders at times this season and finished with the same record as the Saints who clinched the division by virtue of sweeping the season series against the Panthers. Carolina has a sound defense, a very solid running game, and a quarterback in Cam Newton who is erratic yet very talented and if he can produce like he has at times over the last two seasons then the Cats not only have a shot at covering but winning this one outright.
The Saints meanwhile have been very exciting to watch this season as their offense has been matched by very few and their defense has taken a huge step forward but they face off against a familiar foe here and will try to pull off a very tough feat in winning three games in the same season against one team. New Orleans as always is led by Drew Brees by it has been the breakout of Alvin Kamara that has stolen the headlines and rightfully so as the play making running back has been excellent in the passing game, running game, and return game and he will be leaned on heavily in this spot against a very good Panthers side.
The Panthers are 3-9 ATS in their last 12 against the NFC South and 7-3 ATS in their last 10 following a loss while the Saints are 23-4 ATS in their last 27 home games against a team with a winning road record and 4-1 ATS in their last five against the Panthers. This is shaping up to be a very entertaining game and the line is moving in New Orleans’ favour but a touchdown seems to be too heavy here and while I like the Saints to get the win I think Carolina keeps it close.
