We have some week 3 NFL preseason action from Lucas Oil Stadium on Saturday as the San Francisco 49ers take on the Indianapolis Colts.
The San Francisco 49ers will look to bounce back from their first loss of the preseason, falling to Houston by a final score of 16-13. Jimmy Garoppolo led the 49ers with 136 yards on 10 of 12 passing with a touchdown that was cancelled out by an interception. Jeremy McNichols led San Fran in rushing with 10 carries for 28 yards, while Marquise Goodwin tied for the team lead with 3 receptions while leading the Niners with 61 receiving yards. Defensively, the 49ers forced a pair of fumbles, one of which they recovered, while Emmanuel Moseley logged an interception and Reuben Foster led San Francisco with 4 tackles in the losing effort.

The Indianapolis Colts will also be looking to rebound from their first loss of the preseason, narrowly edged out by Baltimore by a final score of 20-19 in their last outing. Jacoby Brissett saw the bulk of the workload at quarterback with 172 yards on 14 of 23 passing while Andrew Luck threw for 50 yards on 6 of 13 passing. Jordan Wilkins led Indy in rushing with 7 carries for 26 yards while Christine Michael took his 7 carries and turned them into 21 yards. Steve Ishmael led the Colts with 52 receiving yards while Eric Ebron caught a team-high 4 passes and Zach Pascal caught the Colts’ lone TD grab in the losing effort. Defensively, the Colts forced a pair of fumbles and George Odum recorded a pair of Indy’s 3 sacks as a team while Zaire Franklin led the Colts with 8 tackles.
San Francisco is 6-1 ATS in their last 7 Saturday games and 4-1 ATS in their last 5 road games while the over is 6-2 in their last 8 games on turf. Indianapolis is 5-2 ATS in their last 7 games on turf while the under is 8-0 in their last 8 games overall and 37-18 in their last 55 home games. The road team is 5-1 ATS in the last 6 meetings between these two teams.
It must be nice for the Colts to finally have Luck back at QB, but the problem for me is that he didn’t really look that comfortable and I know it’s just rust and it’ll get shaken off, and Brissett was capable in Luck’s absence. However, the 49ers, even with their backups in a good chunk, still have a solid defensive unit and have the ability to give the Colts fits. San Francisco has a capable offense of their own and in a pick ‘em scenario, I like the 49ers to win this game outright on the road.
