The New England Patriots and the Jacksonville Jaguars meet in a rematch of the 2017 AFC Championship Game from EverBank Field on Sunday.

The New England Patriots will look to build on their season opening 27-20 win over Houston in their last outing. Tom Brady threw for 277 yards, 3 touchdowns and an interception on 26 of 39 passing while Rex Burkhead led the Pats in rushing with 18 carries for 64 yards. Rob Gronkowski led the Patriots with 7 catches for 123 yards and a touchdown while Phillip Dorsett added 7 receptions for 66 yards and a touchdown as well as James White recording a TD grab in the win. The Jacksonville Jaguars will also look to build on a season opening victory, theirs coming in the form of a 20-15 win over the New York Giants in their last outing. Blake Bortle threw for 176 yards, a touchdown and an interception on 18 of 33 passing, while T.J. Yeldon led the Jags with 14 carries for 51 yards. Keenan Cole led the Jaguars’ receiving corps with 54 receiving yards while Dede Westbrook had 51 yards and a team-high 5 catches in the win with the aforementioned Yeldon adding a touchdown grab in the win. Defensively, Calais Campbell and Lerentee McCray each had a sack while Myles Jack had a team-high 7 tackles and a pick-six that helped seal the victory for the Jaguars.

New England is 37-17-2 ATS in their last 56 games overall and 14-3 in their last 17 road games while the under is 6-2 in their last 8 games against the AFC. Jacksonville is 7-3 ATS in their last 10 games against a team with a winning record and 8-3 ATS in their last 11 games against the AFC while the over is 10-4 in their last 4 games in September. The under is 3-1-1 in the last 5 meetings between these two teams.

Jacksonville’s defense appeared to be as good as advertised against New York, and while the Jags held their own with New England in the playoffs last season, I need to see that the Jaguars can do it here before instilling much faith in Jacksonville this season. The Patriots are still a solid offense, and while laying points on the road is tough, you rarely get the Patriots with these kinds of low lines regardless of when it is in the regular season. I’ll lay the points with New England strictly from a value standpoint.
