The Philadelphia Eagles and Tampa Bay Buccaneers meet Sunday in NFL action at Raymond James Stadium.
The Philadelphia Eagles look for a solid road victory to start 2-0 for the second time in the last three years. The Philadelphia Eagles have won five of their last six road games. Nick Foles is completing 55.9 percent of his passes for 117 yards, zero touchdowns and one interception. Foles has five touchdown passes in his last 135 pass attempts. Zach Ertz and Nelson Agholor have combined for 81 receiving yards on 13 receptions while Darren Sproles has four receptions. The Philadelphia Eagles ground game is averaging 113 yards per contest, and Jay Ajayi leads the way with 62 yards and two touchdowns. Defensively, Philadelphia is allowing 12 points and 299 yards per game. Jordan Hicks leads the Philadelphia Eagles with seven tackles, Fletcher Cox has 1.5 sacks and Rasul Douglas has one interception.
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers look for another upset victory to start 2-0 for the first time since the 2010 season. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have lost four of their last six home games. Ryan Fitzpatrick is completing 75 percent of his passes for 417 yards, four touchdowns and zero interceptions. Fitzpatrick has two or more touchdown passes in three of his last six games. Mike Evans and DeSean Jackson have combined for 293 receiving yards and three touchdowns while O.J. Howard has two receptions. The Eagles are 5-2 ATS in their last 7 road games, 10-3 ATS in their last 13 vs. NFC and 4-0 ATS in their last 4 games overall. The Buccaneers are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 vs. NFC, 8-3 ATS in their last 11 games following a ATS win and 4-0 ATS in their last 4 games overall. The road team is 5-2 ATS in their last 7 meetings, the underdog is 5-2 ATS in their last 7 meetings and the over is 4-1 in the last 5 meetings.
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers victory over the New Orleans Saints was the most shocking thing to happen opening week and killed a ton of survivor leagues before they even started. However, I'm not ready to put my trust into Fitzpatrick and the Bucs just yet, as it takes more than one game for me to jump on a bandwagon. The Philadelphia Eagles are a much better defensive club than the Saints and showed against the Atlanta Falcons they can still win games despite poor QB play from Foles. The Eagles have also had extra time to prepare for this game given that they played last Thursday. Laying a field goal with the better, more rested team seems like the play here. I need to see more from the Buccaneers before backing them with any confidence.
