The Philadelphia Eagles welcome Carson Wentz back to the starting lineup as they host the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday afternoon.
The Colts look to send the Eagles to their second loss of the season in a quarterback matchup featuring two of the league’s best as Andrew Luck will be out to dissect a very good Eagles defense and outplay third year pivot Carson Wentz who returns from his ACL surgery. Indy has split their first two games this season as they rebounded with a win last week over the Washington Redskins in D.C. after a season opening loss to the Cincinnati Bengals and now we will see what they are truly made of against a stingy Eagles defense. Indy is a seven point underdog as we approach kick off and they have been miserable ATS following a win as they are 1-7 against the number in their last eight and will be in tough against a Philly side has been covering at a torrid pace at home lately.
The Eagles meanwhile fell victim to the red hot Tampa Bay Bucs last weekend after opening the season with a home win against the Atlanta Falcons and now they get another motivated offense that is littered with confidence after a statement win last week. However, the Eagles are always a tough out at home and get their starting quarterback back in the lineup after a lengthy absence dating back to last season, and while incumbent Nick Foles was the Super Bowl hero I don’t think there is any doubt that Wentz is the far superior option when healthy.
The Colts are 1-4 in their last five ATS on grass and are 5-1 in their last six meetings ATS against the Eagles while Philly is 11-3 ATS in their last 14 on grass and 8-2 ATS in their last 10 home games. The line here is continuing to move up but that isn’t the best idea against Andrew Luck and so far this season the Eagles haven’t looked great. A back door cover at worst seems like the most likely outcome.
