The Atlanta Falcons look to play their way back into the NFC South playoff picture as they host the woeful New York Giants on Monday Night Football.
The Giants head into Atlanta looking to rebound after an ugly performance last season and they will turn to rookie sensation Saquon Barkley to lead them past the Falcons in a game that figures to be high scoring and have plenty of offense. The Giants look as though they are ready to move on from two-time Super Bowl winner Eli Manning as he has looked down right awful this season and the Giants offense as a whole has suffered greatly as Odell Beckham and company are growing weary with each passing week. New York has a chance to bounce back on Monday night though as the Falcons have been just as bad this season and while they are coming off a victory they haven’t shown lately they are capable of stringing victories together.
The Falcons meanwhile have performed well on Monday night over the years as they have covered in 5 of their last 6 tries under the brightest lights and at home against a Giants side that has just a single win this season that trend figures to continue. Atlanta’s offense has been red hot this season as Matt Ryan is having another elite level campaign and Julio Jones remains one of the best wide outs in the NFL but they haven’t been able to get their top weapon into the end zone and that is a huge reason why they are 2-4 so far this season. Tevin Coleman and Ito Smith will take over the running duties with Devonta Freeman on the injured reserve but if the Falcons are going to get back in the playoff picture they need their defense to step up.
The Giants are 3-9 ATS in their last 12 against the NFC and 2-5 ATS in their last 7 Monday games while the Falcons are 1-4 ATS in their last 5 against a team with a losing record and 2-5 ATS in their last 7 overall. New York can’t seem to do anything right at the moment but if Barkley gets his touches it should open things up and the line is moving in the right direction. Take New York to keep this close.
